Tell Traverse City Something Now

  1. Jake says:

    It is this simple to tell Traverse City something. Just fill out the info below in “leave a Reply,” and type something in. I will publish it as long as I feel that it is appropriate.

  2. Jessica says:

    Traverse City, I miss you. I miss hanging out with close friends and drinking good beer on a weekday. I miss playing cards, guitar, and just hanging out until the sun comes up. I miss the clean and beautiful beaches that are just down the street. I could go on…

  3. Jason says:

    TC, I will come home to at some point in the future! Save a plot of land on West Bay for me!

  4. ricky says:

    I just bookmarked this place, keep the good stuff coming!

  5. scott says:

    does anyone know the name of the store with the giant bear on the front of it. i think its on the corner of 31 and third??

  6. Jake says:

    I believe it is called “The Bear Co.”

  7. i'm not stupid to give out my real name says:

    traverse city sucks big time! all the people are rude! and you call it a nice city? so many people, buildings, and worst of all alot of hotels. what’s there to do here anyways? so fickin ass boring! i wouldn’t want to live there if my i wanted to. only reason i’m here is for school and them i’m outta here of the slack dune! out of this ram shackle city. also there is very little ethnic diversity. back where i come from there is alot of ethnic diversity which is what makes it (no not t.c.) a nice city. alot of Asians, and etc. i feel very lonely down here since i’m like the only non-white person here. even i feel disgusted being in this city. also tell what it so nice about? is this also an anti-bicycle city? the people here seem to hate cyclists.
    I HOPE TRAGIC CITY BURNS TO THE GROUND OR GETS DESTROYED!!! I HATE IT WITH A PASSION!

  8. i'm not stupid to give out my real name says:

    p.s. “tragic city” is NOT in NORTHERN MICHIGAN! in fact NORTHERN MICHIGAN doesn’t even exist in the lower peninsula. for those that say traverse city is in NORTHERN MICHIGAN. you don’t even know what NORTHERN MICHIGAN is. NORTHERN MICHIGAN is above the bridge! it’s in the U.P. GO YOOPERS!! BOOO trolls!

  9. Janie says:

    Tragic City? LOL.
    When you’re out of school, (what 6th grade?)
    we hope you have matured a bit, before you go back to the city where you came from. At least you’ll be alive and well by the time you’re 18 cause a lot of kids with your frame of mind don’t make it past 18 in the city. Consider yourself lucky to be here in beautiful Northern Michigan in the meantime.
    And Yes, this is Northern Michigan. I am From the U.P. and that is the U.P. Not Northern Michigan. OK, I’ll get off my soapbox now :-)

  10. No kidding. That’s an old one. I thought it was supposed to be Tragic Pity though. Wow. That person needs to move, that’s the best way to see how nice Traverse is, spend some time in the D.

  11. Unsatisfied Customer says:

    Hooters in Traverse City has the absolute worst service!!! Don’t waste your time there. The “manager” doesn’t even care. The “manager” didn’t engage with the customers or staff. The girls were gathered at a table gossiping. I was ignored by 3 waitresses – nice job of customer service training….If you are the owner of this Hooters…WAKE UP!!! YOU ARE LOSING MONEY!!! I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THAT PLACE. AWFUL SERVICE!!!

  12. 'm not stupid to give out my real name says:

    @Janie
    Excuse you women! I’m 20. I’ve survived in this city which is twice as big as where I come from! What makes you think that I can’t survive in another city? You don’t know me! People in this city take so much pride living this city. They worship it as though if it was their god or something. Is Cherry Festival the only celebration they have throughout the whole year? Lame! “Oh my gosh I live in beautiful “Northern Michigan!” I’m so lucky! I’m gonna miss this place when I leave! NOT!
    Taverse City is not beautiful and not in “Northern Michigan.” Why then is the college called “Northwestern” Michigan College instead of “Northern Michigan College? Hmmm…? BURN! The only reason it’s called “Northern Michigan” because trolls down here don’t think about the U.P. A couple of people from down here even say it this city isn’t in “Northern Michigan.” Oh I forgot, all the yoopers say it isn’t either! I think this disproves you and every body else. You born in the U.P. or did you just live there and born in lower Michigan and then move back down here?

  13. 'm not stupid to give out my real name says:

    @Janie
    P.S. I’m mature but not when it comes to this city. When you get old (maybe say 90s if you live that long in this city) I hope you die happy.

  14. Michele says:

    Janie, I’m sorry you and all of us had to be exposed to stupid enough to post anything. Spell check might be nice if one wants to sound mature and educated. It is called Northwestern because Northern already exists. Maybe you could enjoy the beauty of your surrounding area if you got out from behind your computer or television and looked at what is around you. I’m sure the mature person you are can think of creative ideas and not need someone else to tell you what to do all the time.

  15. easy3142 says:

    @not stupid
    You sound like an idiot.
    Your grammar is horrible. I’m sure you’ll fail out of school soon and then you can be gone. You didn’t need to state that you’re “non-white.” We can tell by your moronic statements.

  16. yuppers12 says:

    I agree I f—–g hate it here. As soon as school is done I’m never coming back. No jobs, obscenely high standard of living did I mention there’s not any jobs? Its nice if you can afford it but then there’s the rest of us.

  17. Sarah S says:

    first visit and just wanted to stop by and say hi

  18. gaytraversecity says:

    @Michele
    I don’t why you’re talking about spell check because I didn’t spell a single word wrong! Well that’s to bad that Northern already exists. Ah the satisfaction of hearing Northwestern instead of Northern. I did escape my computer and t.v. on my bike but still a pity! This city’s hot spot is downtown…which is only two blocks! Get real!

    @easy3142
    Easy! Saying someone else sounds like an idiot doesn’t make you superior. How is my grammar horrible. I mean obviously you understood my message. I didn’t know this was English paper! My “non-white” statement was suppose to be moronic. I’m just speaking out. Like the blog says, “A Place Where Your Voice Can Be Heard.”

    @yupper12
    Thank you! At least somebody hears me! I feel really bad for you. I sympathize. It was bad enough for me I moved out that town after the semester ended. Now I’m finishing up school in the good ole’ U.P.! Where all the people are much more friendlier and not driving recklessly over the speed limit, true place where Northern Michigan is, and much more prettier then downstate!

  20. it does not matter says:

    I wish people would use common sense more often. For example if you are in a crowded restaurant be patient. I work at a certain Traverse City area restaurant and we can get crazy busy at the drop of a hat and it really makes for a crappy day when I see and hear people gripping after just a short period of time. If you do not have time to sit down and wait for your meal then go to a drive thru you idiots!!! Better yet don’t even bother coming in in the first place. Sure we could use the business but it is not worth all of the bullcrap.

  21. Kelly says:

    I was just dropping by and got distracted by the crazy comments here … yikes!

    I just feel like I need to say a few things:

    It’s okay to hate it here, but why spread your hate (in this context or in any other)? Move away when school is done, find a new life somewhere else, and realize that you’re lucky enough to be able to move to a place that makes you happy. A lot of people don’t have that luxury.

    Though we aren’t as ethnically diverse as a lot of cities, we are ethnically diverse. In fact, I live in a neighborhood with people of many races and I love it. AND it’s right downtown (gasp). It’s unfortunate that you feel the need to express such hateful opinions without the breadth of knowledge to back yourself up.

    In regard to the lack of things to do, I’ve lived in cities of many sizes, and there aren’t more or less things here than any other city of this size. Not only is there a wealth of nature to explore, but events, festivals and community activities abound. Not to mention the awesome food and bar scene (especially in the summer).

    In short, if you don’t have the capacity to recognize that TC is an acceptable place to be, don’t be here. Abraham Lincoln said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make their minds up to be.” You might want to try looking towards the positive.

    Best wishes in your new, better locale.

  22. it does not matter says:

    Well said Kelly, or in this case well typted. I have lived in this area my entire life and I love this place. Oh sure I do not like snow that much and the threat that winter does to driving but hey, this is my home and I love it! There is plenty to do in Traverse City but if you come from a large or huge city like Chicago for example Traverse City will seem small to you. Bottom line: If you hate the area them move. If you hate the area and won’t move then do everyone a HUGE favor and shut the front door!

  23. gaytraversecity says:

    @Kelly
    How can you say that the city is ethnically diverse? Whenever I was in downtown I didn’t see it and on campus. My “breadth of knowledge” to back myself up is myself as a witness and in your newspaper, record eagle, “Grand Traverse County’s population is more than 96 percent white.” You can read it here for yourself: http://record-eagle.com/saturday/x546325323/Workforce-diversity-session-Tuesday (GASP)!

    So once again how can you say you are ethnic diverse? The 4 percent is hardly much to say it has ethnic diversity.

    Also the cost of living is obscenely high. One must have to be a millionaire to afford living there. A good example is I lived in Alpine Apts. (right at the intersection of 31&airport access rd) and the price for one apt. is $645 and they weren’t even that nice, located next to the damn airport, and even more annoying was the damn coast guard flying above everyday. I felt like taking a sling shot and shooting rock at them. That’s friggin pissed I got!

  24. living in T.C. says:

    okay @ “m not stupid what is your problem just because you dont like it here doesn’t mean everyone hates it here. Traverse City is a great area and it is beautiful and we are right on the water and the whole countryside is gorgeous. I’m here for school too and the program is amazing and my house is great i couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. So stop being such a hater and trying to be all tough on the internet grow up.

  25. gaytraversecity says:

    I could go on forever on ranting on here but I’m not but I’m not as I have better things to do then wasting anymore time on this stupid blog. Those and these are only my opinions so f*&k you all (except yuppers 12 who agrees with me) and f*&k “Tragic City”, Traverse Shi^&y, Traverse Pity, or what ever you wanna call it! It’s not in “Northern Michigan” as people down there claim it is, it’s not pretty either, it’s not “ethnic diverse”, and you’ll be glad to hear this. I’m done with this pathetic blog page. You all are a waste of breath for me to keep ranting on. I hope you all enjoy your life in this wretched city full of thieves (my bike was stolen), murderers, and rapists.
    By the way @ living in T.C., NMC was a great 2 year school with an excellent aviation program. I never had any problems with it. Quit assuming I hate it! Grow up and learn to effin to read!

  26. living in T.C. says:

    okay @gaytraversecity stop trying to go hard on the internet and for your information if you dont want to live here and its so horrible LEAVE THEN! DUHH! You can transfer to another school.. IF your grades are good enough and im just so sick of people being like oh poor me this city suck im in hell its so horrible here. Well guess what alot of people have it a whole lot worse than you, and dont even have a place to live. You know why your here because of you; you chose to go to school here so it on you!

  27. gay traverse city says:

    Ok this will be the last time I write on this stupid blog! You all happy now?! I guess I have better things to do then waste my time on this pathetic blog.
    @living in T.C. No really??? I didn’t know that. What’re you majoring in? Human intelligent? How low is your intelligent to know that I know that just because I despise this city that everybody else hates it. What’s YOUR problem? The blog says “A place where you voice can be heard.” I’m just letting my voice be heard. By the way if you read my above comments I NEVER said the school there sucks at all! NMC is a great 2 year school as I attended there. Learn to read you moron! I’m not trying to be a tough guy! Unless if you want me to be…then I’ll be tough! You wanna fight?
    I hope you’ll enjoy your life in this wretched city where my bike got stolen!

  28. Traverse City is just like Mount Pleasant MI, they both suck big time! You went around saying shit about me and my family all over the planet, and you think God won’t punish you assholes?! No wonder people hate Mount Pleasant and Traverse City, MI. On top of that, both cities don’t have much to offer when it comes to having things to do. What makes it that much worse are the evil, disgusting, strongly opinionated, gossipping bitches in those cities. Theses cities have a whole lot of stupid bitches and bastards that went around harrassing me, and even involved stupid Dark Blue movie like crooked cops. And you went around and said shit about me and my family all over the planet. God will punish you someday. Hell will come to your lives, trust me! I fucking hate these cities, I fucking hate this state!

  29. gaytraversecity says:

    Alright this will be my very LAST post on this blog! You all won’t every hear from me again!

    @living in T.C.
    No really?! I didn’t know that! What’s your major? Human intelligent? How low is your intelligent to not know that I know that just because I hate T.C. doesn’t mean that everybody there hates it? (rolling on floor laughing)
    I’m not trying to be a tough guy…unless if you want me to be a tough guy? Wanna fight? I’d say that everybody on this blog that’s attacking are jealous just because one person doesn’t like their city. Awww go in a corner and cry you babies!

    Alright like I said this is my last post. See you what every you wanna call this city!

  30. gaytraversecity says:

    @living in T.C.
    For your damn information I’m living there anymore! DUHH! If you read my past tense previous comments you idiot (I lived in…, NMC was a great 2 year school) If you want me to stop ranting, you have to stop not post anymore on this subject abd then I’ll stop. Deal? Btw, why don’t you start targeting the “You know who I am” person since there doing the same thing.

    @You know who I am, dammit!
    Looks like you and I are writing on this blog for the same reason, our hatred towards Traverse City. Wanna team up and gang up on this blog?

  31. Brandi says:

    Hi. I am moving to TC in the spring. How are healthcare jobs there? I will be wanting a job as a Certified Nursing Assistant while I go to school. Any imput will be helpful.

  32. Sijjvra says:

    This town is pretty much the most hypocritical arm pit I’ve ever lived in. Snobs who can’t even do their jobs correctly but pretend they are high and mighty, tourists, ruining the beautiful lake shore with stupid hotels and fast food joints… it’s disgusting. And yet you’ll see the homeless down town, but they’ll try to cover that up. Can’t have anything “ugly” in “beautiful” TC, right?

    Can’t wait to get out of this overpriced POS town. What a bunch of fakes.

  33. 'm not stupid to give out my real name says:

    @Sijjvra
    Amen to that! I totally agree. Everyone who works here has to feel that there in a uptight rich town with their “fancy bayside houses”, boats, and touristy hotels. To much damn hotels! I couldn’t wait to move out of that POS town!

    Finally some people that agree with me starting to speak out. :)

  34. Dave says:

    Hi,

    Munson Medical is a large regional medical center located in TC that serves a sprawling rural area of about 50,000 persons. It seems to be rated quite high in national tests for a facility of its size. You’ll find them on the web. I know a number of people who work there, it has the typical issues of a large organization but I believe it has a reputation for rewarding merit. In my use of them with ageing family members I’ve been extremely impressed with staff, organization, cleanliness, efficiency.

  35. it does not matter says:

    @gaytraversecity: Clearly you have issues and clearly you do not like living in Traverse City, Michigan. I am sorry that you are so full of hate for this area. It makes me wonder how old you really are and how mature you are. This area is small and kinda boring but it is also home to many people and they love it here. I am 30 years old and I have lived here my entire life and I love this place. I would be completely lost in a bigger city. Oh sure it would be more fun and there would be a lot more to do. For what is worth I hope you find happiness here or somewhere else. In the meantime please stop bashing the place that many of us call home and that many of us love. Please and thank you! :)

  36. gaytraversecity says:

    @ it does not matter
    I don’t have to stop bashing the place that the many of you call “home” and “love.” Cause You know why? It’s called free speech.

    Thank you! :)

  37. honest says:

    I think the T.C. haters are just disappointed because everyone who vacations here raves about T.C. but to live here is a lot different than to
    be on vacation. People used to the amenities of a larger city have to
    adjust. It’s like moving to Alaska or Siberia to them. They get here after hearing all the Raving ( usually from older women with lighthouses appliquéd to their sweatshirts ) and are disappointed and stuck with their Decision. ( I kn

  38. Moving Soon says:

    This was a fun read. I hope this guy moves back to TC before we move there. I would love to meet him. My family and I are excited to move to Traverse City. It seems nice. We’re from Mid-Michigan so it is Northern to us. Can’t wait.
    p.s. Am I the only one who noticed the extremely racial comment above?

  39. lived in tc for 2 yrs says:

    Traverse City is a great city to live in. As for jobs, it depends, how is your work ethic? Are you a lazy bum? If so, no job here is suitable for you, if you do however know what ‘working’ is, then you’ll do just fine. I found a job right away after moving to TC. The area is beautiful and way better than Mt. Pleasant. {As I recall, someone said TC & Mt. P are the same??? UMM NO!!! No where near as much crime & no smog in the air….} Anyways, for anyone wanting to visit or move to the TC area, ignore all of the comments about how ‘dumb’ and ‘jobless’ and ‘horrible’ TC is because, it isn’t bad. It is a nice city, with a lot of down to earth people. Even though most people here are nice, just like in any other city, there are a few people here that you just wanna slap across the face, but that is normal just about everywhere. I loved it here while I lived here. :)

  40. Ben says:

    I’m sorry to anyone who might be thinking of moving here that read this blog. It’s really a nice place to live. A bit overrun by hipster types, but there’s a college here, so that’s what you get. And the mall cops can be overzealous, but once again, their mall cops, so thats what you get. Beautiful lake, rivers nearby, hiking trails; there is alot to do in that aspect.

  41. Scottish says:

    So much hate. Get over yourself @gaytraversecity. Life is good unless you make it bad. By the sounds of your 10 or so posts in a years span, your life is crumbling around you. Don’t blame race, or lack of diversity for your past/present problems. You are your own problem, trust me. Maybe if you excepted life for what it is instead of asking for what it isn’t you could find happiness.
    On the note of living in a bigger city; I live 20 minutes outside of Detroit. The metropoltion area is huge, with millions of people. That does not mean that there is more to do though. Sure we have sporting events, tigers, lions, and the Redwings, but that is it. If there was more to do down here why does everyone from the city go north when they have free time? Life in the city is just as boring. The only difference is there are more people like the man posting all the hate on this blog.

  42. ED says:

    I was born in traverse city 33 years ago. I think this town can both ways for a person. To make a long story short. Half my friends are on a rat race and have to see the world. The other half me:) love what the area has and would never dream of lining any where else.
