Mud Sweat and Beers
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Hey Everybody! This weekend there is Mountain Bike event which is being thrown to support The Holiday Race Team. It’s a BIG event called Mud Sweat and Beers. That’s right beers. They are looking for volunteers to help direct on the course among other things. It’s not a big commitment, and it’s for a great cause. Good people, great biking, and beer. There will also be beer. Please check out www.mudsweatandbeers.com to find out what you can do to help. There is a volunteers tab which will allow you to sign up for a shift in between beers. Iceman Cometh Challenge
Thursday, January 21st, 2010The Iceman Cometh Challenge is a 27 mile point-to-point mountain bike race from Kalkaska to Traverse City, Michigan. Held traditionally on the first Saturday of November (except for years when the first Saturday of November is the 1st), the 20th annual Iceman will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Just under $25,000 in cash prizes and $10,000 in merchandise prizes will be awarded
Every November, over 2,000 competitors and 4,000 spectators from all over the U.S. and Canada gather in this picturesque northern Michigan resort area (better known for its summer beaches and golf courses) to participate in one of the strangest and most grueling cold-weather events in off-road bicycle racing.
Now in its 20th year, the 2009 Iceman Cometh will be held Nov. 7 – and organizers had no trouble filling all 2,000 available slots by mid-June.
Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010Lovers of craft beer, world music and winter fun won’t want to miss the first annual Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival taking place under heated tents on the Clubhouse grounds at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 5PM – 10PM. Tickets can be purchased at Oryana, Old Town Coffee, North Peak and the Resort’s Lobby Marketplace beginning Monday, December 21. Tickets will also be available online at tcbeerfest.com and porterhouseproductions.com.
$25 festival ticket includes live performances from national and local acts including Delilah DeWylde & The Lost Boys, Euforquestra, Levi Britton, The Rachael Davis Band, Steppin’ In It, Joshua Davis, Grand Traverse Pipes & Drums, and more; craft beer education; five 7 oz. pours (with additional tokens available for purchase); FREE sleigh rides; FREE Celtic Shuttle service every 15-20 minutes from North Peak Brewery in downtown Traverse City; FREE festival after-party; and more!
